Do Kareena and Arjun have lots of love-making scenes together?

Do Kareena and Arjun have lots of love-making scenes together?

By Subhash K Jha

In Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine Arjun Rampal plays a role that can easily be traced to the Hindi film industry. In the film Kareen plays the actress that the volatile superstar Arjun Rampal has an extra-marital affair with.

Confirming these details from Heroine Arjun says, “Well, he is a married superstar. And yes, he is having an affair with this very attractive actresss. Do Kareena and I have lots of love-making scenes together?

To know that you’ll have to buy a ticket and find out for yourself. What I can tell you is that Heroine is Kareena’s most glorious moment. She has given all of herself to the role. What we’ve seen of her is not even 30 percent of her talent. ”

Though they had some very difficult scenes together Arjun had terrific fun shooting with Kareena. “I had worked with her earlier in We Are Family. I find her hassle-free and great fun to work with. Working in Heroine has been a fantastic experience because of what Madhur Bhandarkar has said about love, relationships and careers in showbiz, and because of Kareena. ”

Back from Cannes where he met the who’s who of global entertainment, Arjun Rampal is busy wrapping up Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuha in the sweltering heat of the jungles of Madhya Pradesh.

Cannes, says Arjun, was a revelation. “I met talented actors and directors from all over the world. Walking the red-carpet with my wife was an amazing experience. ”

This month Arjun takes off for a longish vacation with his family. The family along with Arjun’s dear friends Hrithik and Suzanne head for Bali.

Says Arjun, “I think I’ve earned the holiday. I’ve been working non-stop on three films. Sudhir Mishra’s Kaam: The Unofficial Story, Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuha and Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine. It’s my dear friend’s 40th birthday in Bali. Besides, my daughters are water babies. They love the sea. So off we go. ”

When Arjun returns his night club Lap in Delhi which is under renovation opens.

“It will re-open on July 15 with a party. So it’s a packed second-half for me with three releases and the club’s re-opening. Sudhir’s film about workplace ethics, lust and sex is complete. I am looking forward to its release. I’ve never attempted something like this before. It’s a hard-hitting film. ”

Vidya and Emraan to romance in the rains

Vidya and Emraan to romance in the rains

The much talked-about Vidya Balan-Emraan Hashmi comedy has been preponed by a month. The shooting which was supposed to start in September now starts at the beginning of August, and with very good reason.

The director wants to capture his Dirty Picture jodi in the rains.

Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan are all set to recreate thae long-forgotten feeling of romancing Mumbai in the monsoon in Rajkumar Gupta’s Ghanchakkar.

And to think that the director’s desire to drench his star pair in the monoon rains almost didn’t happen.

Emraan had vetoed director Rajkumar Gupta’s original August shooting for Ghanchakkar because of time constraints, thereby ostensibly killing the proposed monsoonal romance with Vidya.

However a very lucky circumstance overrode Emraan’s schedule.

Over to the director Rajkumar Gupta, “I had originally planned an August schedule. And Vidya who is at the moment doing no other film was completely one with my film’s schedule.

But Emraan was busy promoting Raaz 3 in August as the film was supposed to release at the end of August. But now I believe Raaz 3 has been pushed forward, so I got the window to shoot the scenes that I wanted. I guess I am just lucky. ”

The idea is to shoot Vidya and Emraan on the rain-soaked streets of Mumbai with secret cameras.

That’s how Gupta had shot Rajeev Khandelwal in Aamir. But to shoot two popular superstars like Vidya and Emraan with hidden cameras requires herculian amounts of courage.

Laughs Gupta, “I agree. But both are used to shooting in the crowded outdoors. If Vidya could brave the Kolkata crowds in Kahaani and the Delhi junta in my film No One Killed Jessica then Mumbai would be a cakewalk in comparison. The important thing is, God has been generous. Thanks to Emraan’s reshuffled appointment diary I am able to shoot as and when I had originally planned.

Two male actors from theatre are being finalized.

Informs Gupta, “We are looking at new faces from theatre and from other sources. We’ve auditioned dozens. With Vidya and Emraan in the cast I need untried talent to balance off their huge stardom. Besides Emraan and Vidya there are two major characters, both male, plus dozens of supporting parts. ”

Gupta hopes to wrap up the entire shooting by December. The film releases in the first quarter. “We haven’t got a release date as yet. But I am hoping it would be the 8th of any month in the first quarter of 2013. You see, my first film Aamir released on the 6th and my second film No One Killed Jessica released on the 7th. ”

And would there be a profusion of romantic songs in Amit Trivedi’s soundtrack?

“Wait and see, what Vidya and Emraan do in Ghanchakkar would be very different from what they did in The Dirty Picture. ”

'Not easy being an item girl'

`Not easy being an item girl`

Item girl talks about her grazed knees while shooting for her chartbuster item song 'Pritam Pyaare'

From growing up watching Bollywood films in Sweden and later starting her own dance school, Maryam Zakaria is enthusiastic about creating her own space in Bollywood.

Previously seen along with Kareena Kapoor in Dil Mera Muft Ka from Agent Vinod, Maryam’s latest item number – Pritam Pyaare, featured high on the country’s music charts. HitList joins the item girl on a stroll around Bandra to talk about her dance, Bollywood dreams and life away from home.

How does it feel to be an item girl in Bollywood?
Working with Prabhudeva was a great experience. He’s totally awesome. The song is high on energy, so it required some stamina.

There is a sequence where I had to roll on the ground under a group of background dancers. The floor was pretty hard and I had no kneecaps on. I was totally bruised all over. Being an item girl is no easy job!

How did your love for Hindi films begin?
My parents loved Hindi films. So, I grew up watching many films of Amitabh Bachchan and other actors. As a child, I enjoyed watching Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. And I absolutely adored Madhuri Dixit. Acting in a Hindi film was always like a dream for me. So, I chased my dream and came here (laughs out loud).

When did dance happen?
I have always been into dancing. Though I have no formal training in dancing, I did learn Kuchipudi and Kathak in Sweden for a couple of years. But I didn’t purse them on a higher level, as I wanted to make a career in Bollywood dancing. Later on, I also opened a dance studio there where I taught people the jhatkas and matkas of Bollywood.

Your favourite rain dance?
Tip tip barsa paani! Especially, the scene where Akshay Kumar holds Raveena Tandon’s sari and she just rolls into his arms is so hot! I also love Aishwarya Rai’s graceful dancing in Taal. The chiffon saris and rains are unbeatable combination.

Single in the city...?
I am an independent girl. I can fight for myself irrespective of the situation. I don’t want to be known as an item girl, my dream is to be a proper actress.
